Six Space Coast Communities, Stated Factually
Each section below follows the same pattern: where the community sits, the roads and causeways that reach it, its named public parks and beach facilities, and the housing types found there. This guide is a starting point — the facts here are general information; your REALTOR® at MaxxCity Realty LLC can walk a specific street with you.
Melbourne
Melbourne is a mainland city in Brevard County along the western shore of the Indian River Lagoon. Historic Downtown Melbourne sits on East New Haven Avenue near the lagoon; the Eau Gallie Arts District lies to the north across the Eau Gallie River. Two causeways run east from the city to the barrier island: the Melbourne Causeway (US 192), which lands at Indialantic's Fifth Avenue, and the Eau Gallie Causeway (SR 518), which lands near Indian Harbour Beach and Satellite Beach.
North–south routes include US-1 along the lagoon and I-95 along the city's western edge. Wickham Park, a Brevard County park with lakes, nature trails, and event grounds, sits between the city and Viera. Housing types in Melbourne include single-family homes in established subdivisions, condominiums along the river and near downtown, and townhomes and newer construction in the city's western areas.
Palm Bay
Palm Bay is a mainland city in southern Brevard County, laid out on a wide platted grid west of the Indian River. Turkey Creek, a tributary of the lagoon, runs through the city's northern areas; the Turkey Creek Sanctuary, a preserve with boardwalk trails, sits along the creek. Castaway Point Park stands on the Indian River at the city's northeast corner. I-95 crosses the city's western side with interchanges at Palm Bay Road and Malabar Road, and US-1 runs along the eastern edge near the river.
The city's residential areas include the master-planned Bayside Lakes community and newer subdivisions along the Heritage Parkway corridor. Housing is predominantly single-family homes on platted lots, many built from the 1960s onward, with newer construction in the city's northwest and southeast growth areas.
Viera
Viera is an unincorporated master-planned community in central Brevard County, west of I-95, developed in phases since the 1990s. It is organized into named villages with neighborhood parks, schools, and shopping centers distributed among them. The Avenue Viera, an open-air shopping center, anchors the community's retail; Duran Golf Club sits in Viera's northern section, and the USSSA Space Coast Complex, a tournament stadium and sports facility, stands on Stadium Parkway.
Access runs via I-95 at the Viera Boulevard interchange and via Wickham Road and Murrell Road connecting to Melbourne and Rockledge. Viera Boulevard and Stadium Parkway are the community's principal internal corridors. Housing in Viera consists of single-family homes, townhomes, and condominiums within the planned villages, with new construction continuing in the western phases of the community.
Satellite Beach
Satellite Beach is a city on the barrier island, with the Banana River on its west side and the Atlantic Ocean on its east. Highway A1A, designated locally as the Jimmy Buffett Memorial Highway, runs the length of the city. Patrick Space Force Base borders the city to the north. The city reaches the mainland by the Pineda Causeway (SR 404) at its north end and by the Eau Gallie Causeway (SR 518) at its south end via Indian Harbour Beach.
The city's beach parks include Pelican Beach Park, with pavilions, sand volleyball courts, and a parking lot at 1525 Highway A1A, and Hightower Beach Park, an 18-acre oceanfront park with a boardwalk over the dunes. Housing in Satellite Beach includes single-family homes on canal streets and interior streets, townhomes, and condominiums along A1A.
Indialantic
Indialantic is a town on the barrier island at the eastern end of the Melbourne Causeway (US 192). The causeway lands at Fifth Avenue, the town's main street, which carries shops and restaurants between the causeway and the beach. James H. Nance Park, the town's oceanfront park at 201 North Miramar Avenue, includes a boardwalk, picnic pavilions, sand volleyball courts, and a playground; Paradise Beach and Park, a Brevard County beach park, stands near the town's northern edge.
The town occupies the full width of the barrier island at this point, so its streets run between the Banana River shoreline and the Atlantic beach within a short distance of one another. Housing in Indialantic includes single-family homes on ocean-to-river lots, townhomes, and condominiums along A1A and the beachfront.
Cocoa Beach
Cocoa Beach is a barrier-island city south of Cape Canaveral and Port Canaveral, on the island between the Banana River and the Atlantic Ocean. The Cocoa Beach Pier extends into the ocean from the city's downtown, and Ron Jon Surf Shop's flagship store stands on Highway A1A. The Minutemen Causeway connects the city's downtown west across the Banana River to Merritt Island; the SR 520 and SR 528 causeways provide the other two crossings off the island.
The Thousand Islands Conservation Area, a chain of small islands in the Banana River, sits off the city's western shore. A network of residential canals is cut into the city's Banana River side. Housing in Cocoa Beach includes oceanfront condominiums along A1A, single-family homes on canal and interior streets, and townhomes near downtown and the beach.
A note on how this guide is written
Housing guides can steer buyers toward or away from communities, and this one is built not to. Every section above reports the same kinds of facts — location, access, named public facilities, housing types — and describes places rather than the people in them. If a section feels thin on detail, that is the deliberate trade: the guide stays inside what can be checked, and the specifics of a street or a property are questions for a REALTOR® at MaxxCity Realty LLC, reached at (321) 468-5992.
